Based on prior intelligence, the band head out for Thistletop to investigate the rising goblin menace. Heading out into the Nettlewood, the group is ambushed by a goblin patrol. The leaping goblin attacks were ineffective as the party quickly dispatched them.
Finding a secret entrance into the thick thistle and briar patches, the band maneuvers through the cramped winding passages in the thicket. They find a small clearing where there is a small hole in the earth, heading straight down. Exploring the hole is tricky and they secure and lower a knotted rope down and Seamus explores the cavern below. He climbs over to a ledge and secures the rope down for the rest of the group to follow. As the last of the groups makes it down a vicious bunyip leaps from the water. Nim and Seamus each land blows, but it is the mighty Crukdon who winds up spatchcocking the bunyip.
Facing the pretty kitty and the goblin hippie. After looting the cavern, the group goes back up the rope to the thickets. After looking out at an observation point, the group notices a robed goblin sneaking up on them with a fire-pelted cougar. Crukdon tries to calm the cougar, while the group talks to the goblin. With amazing negotiating skills, the Heroes of Sandpoint extract a bit of information about the state of things inside Thistletop. The goblin is not happy about the longshanks that have taken over advising the chief, Ripnugget. The party release the goblin, and he asks that the group spare as many goblins of his tribe as they can, that the real villains are the longshanks inside.

Crukdon Calling
Finally prepared to enter the room ahead, the band bursts open the twin stone doors. A tiny quasit is by a small triangular pool with bubbling fluid that looks like magma, shrieks at the party. She then cuts herself and drops blood into the pool. Dimming the glow of the pool, startling the quasit, a sinspawn emerges from the pool.
The fight begins immediately, and the sinspawn does not last long. The quasit proves to be a much tougher adversary. Nim briefly distracts the quasit as Seamus and Crukdon close in. The battle drags on. but the band is eventually victorious. Nim discovers that the pool is nearly drained of power and suggests that creating more sinpawn will drain it permanently. Seamus shakes the quasit over the pool and creates three more sinspawn, which are dispatched with much prejudice.

I wanna live Seamusly
Below the glassworks, the band explores the basement and finds a walled off part of the basement, recently opened. They find Ameiko's bound and locked in a room. She warns the heroes of her brother and pleas that he must be stopped. The band heals her, and she heads back to town to warn the Sheriff and Mayor. About to complete the search, the group discovers Ameiko's brother Tsuto and a few goblins. After a fierce fight, the party strips Tsuto of his gear and leaves him unconscious and bound in the room where he imprisoned Ameiko. Tsuto's notes reveal some interesting information, the leader of the goblin assaults is the former aasimar girl adopted by the former priest of Sandpoint (and Tsuto's girlfriend).
Descending down into the old smuggler's passage, the party discovers a much older structure below the basement of the glassworks. The entrance was guarded by a creature spawned from the work of the ancient Runelords. The band was able to dispatch it quickly, and begin exploring the underground structure. Following the tunnel they come up through the commode of a jail room. all of the cells are barred. As Amana moves into the room, two sinpawn strike. Some of the party moves up to the commode as Amana retreats down. The rest move around to the jail using another hallway. After dispatching the sinspawns the band continues to explore down the back hallway. They find several rooms, mostly empty, except for a dozen ancient zombies trapped in pits. The party dispatches them by dropping burning pallets on top of them.
Exploring down another passage, the party encounters a vargouille, but with the protection of a countersong, defeat it quickly. They also find a room where everything is levitating, and a few interesting objects. Continuing on to explore the final passage, the party meets a particularly large and malformed goblin. Happy to discover his ability to vomit as an attack, the band keeps it down to defeat the vile creature. As the party rests and recovers, they begin to question their life choices.

Nim, hero of Sandpoint.
The day after the goblin assault on Sandpoint, the town begins the recovery effort. The townsfolk all seem to be aware of the heroic effort that the band put forth to defeat the goblin scourge. As the band travels through town, they are greeted enthusiastically by people taking them for battling the goblins. The baker gives Nim a fresh loaf of bread, the brewmaster gives Seamus a bottle of his latest brew, all the town seems grateful.
The sheriff contacts the band and asks that they meet him in the barracks for a discreet matter. When the group arrives, Father Zantus is waiting there too. There is a matter that the Father would like investigated, a break in at one of the crypts in the boneyard next to the new cathedral. After agreeing everyone heads over to the boneyard, and the Father waits in the sanctuary. The door to the crypt is open and when the band goes inside to look around, they are attacked by two skeletons. After dispatching the undead, the disturbed tomb belongs to the former priest of Sandpoint, Father Ezakien Tobyn. The sheriff would like to keep everything kept confidential for now.
After returning to the Rusty Dragon, the band catches up with Aldern Foxglove, the noble they rescued from the gobin attack. He invites the party over and buys them a round of ale. He pays each band member 50 gold as gratitude, and invites everyone to a boar hunt the next day. After agreeing, he leaves saying he has to attend to his preparations for returning home, he just vacations in Sandpoint.
Just then a woman and her child arrive at the inn asking for help. Her son had been complaining about a monster in the closet, and it has turned out to be a serious problem. The mother pleas to the heroes of Sandpoint, and everyone heads over to the Barett house. Once inside, they head straight up to the child's bedroom. It quickly becomes apparent that the monster in the closet is a trapped goblin, and that Alergast Barett died fighting it. The party immediately attacks the goblin, even though Seamus lands a sound blow to the little vermin, Nim brings it down with a splendid shot from the crossbow. Amele is thankful, but becomes distraught when she finds out about her husbands death. The party donates 15 gold pieces to help relocate the Baretts to Magnimar with other family.
The next day the party decides to investigate the paths the goblins took to get into the town. After finding evidence that the goblins deliberately took the hidden game trails to approach the down. And that a medium sized humanoid had accompanied them, then wandered into down through the main gate. The band also met with the Sheriff and a ranger that keeps an eye on the area goblin tribes. The party gets general survey of the goblin groups, as well as some recent intelligence that the goblins have stopped their usual infighting and are rallying together.
Returning back to Rusty Dragon, the party is met by the barmaid who is worried about Ameiko. Going up to her room, the barmaid shows them a note that, translated, reveals that her brother has summoned her to the glassworks. The barmaid is sure he is up to no good.
The band heads up to the glassworks to investigate. Searching around, they enter the glassworks through one of the secondary entrances. Searching through the main level, the party finds no signs of life and a large murder scene. Finally in the furnace room, the group catches a gang of goblins frolicking about. The battle has started, and after dispatching several of the goblins, the green skinned menace realize they are fighting the longshanks that drove them out of Sandpoint and flee. The band recuperates, preparing to search further...

Swallowtail Festival
The group has been gathered together to perform in the far-away town of Sandpoint, for the Swallowtail Festival. Sandpoint is located up the coast from Magnimar in Varisia. The band employer is a grey haired, fantastically mustached, gentleman Philler Tolo of Absalom. He has sent along his trusted aide Crukdon Thadosh, a not-so-half-orc warrior from Tian Xia.
The band consists of: Seamus (dwarf brawler) on bagpipes, Droka (fetchling skald) on pan pipes, Senoy (aasimar magician-bard) dancer, Nim (gnome bard) on glockenspiel, Amana (vishkanya archaeologist-bard) on percussion, and Bahram (human flame dancer-bard) dancer.
The ship transporting the group, The Squidmarked, was delayed by weather, leaving the inner sea, so the group arrived in Sandpoint just in time to get set up to perform. While rushing along, Grukdon stayed behind to finish unloading the ship and watch over the gear to the Rusty Dragon Inn.
Up on stage, the band opened up the festival with some avant-garde material to warm the crowd for the speakers. Seamus lead in with a bag pipe solo, and the rest of the ensemble following after a moment. The number was well received, and the crowd was enjoying the show.
When it came time for the speakers, it was the usual town festival spiel, except when the priest set off the thunderstone and released the swallowtails... havoc. Goblins were assaulting the town, setting fires, looting, killing, and singing. Two groups of goblins attacked the village square, and irritated at being upstaged by goblin-glee, the party responds to the open hostility in kind. Amana engaged the goblin warchanter in a duel of whips, which he lost to the vicious little green skinned goblin bard.
After clearing the square, the band follows the next largest commotion to the north. A gang of goblins were attacking a nobleman and his dog. Arriving too late to save the dog, the band starts distracting the goblins from their quarry and slowly (very slowly) dispatching them. The rescued nobleman, Aldern Foxglove, is grateful and offers an invitation to the Rusty Dragon Inn so he can more properly thank you.
The town quickly calms, mayor Deverin, Sherrif Hemlock, and Father Zantus thank the band for their bravery and heroics in such a horrible tragedy. Returning to the docks to find Crukdon sitting on the groups crates surrounded by a handful of dead goblins. The party gathers their stuff up on a wagon and heads to the Rusty Dragon Inn, where they were offered free rooms for the week in thanks for helping repel the goblin menace.

Character Creation Guidelines
Back to the beginning with Rise of the Runelords!
The PCs will be 25-point buys, no PFS restrictions. Non-standard races subject to GM approval.
However, I do enjoy parties with a theme. This time each PC is required to spend one (1) skill point in either Perform(sing) or Perform([instrument]). Yes, the party is a band. Players that select bard, skald, or one of the bard archetypes: animal speaker, archaeologist, arcane healer, archivist, celebrity, court bard, daredevil, detective, diva, duettist, flame dancer, geisha, juggler, magician, songhealer, or street performer will get a bonus magic item. No two bards should be the same archetype.
There will be the usual bonuses for character backgrounds, sketches, and things that enhance the party theme. There is a 20 GP award for haiku featuring kobolds, loss/sadness, and roast beef sandwiches. 150 GP will be awarded for three stanza songs featuring the same topics. Yes, I expect Caruthers and Timmy to make guest appearances.
