Texas “Point Blank” Pete and the case of the peckish people of ghoulish persuasion.

After several days of rest and recouperation, the fine fellows of the Elvish Peshley Band have processed their loot and put in for a few equipment enhancements.  A quick trip to Magnimar on the Squidmarked, as the ship makes a return trip to Absalom, the band aquires the goods and services.  The return trip to Sandpoint is uneventful, as the group returns to the Rusty Dragon Inn to discuss the catacombs under sandpoint.

The town has deeded ownership of the catacombs to the members of the Elvish Peshly Band.  The glassworks entrance has been secured with a pair of iron doors at each end. Ameiko has agreed to the arrangment, as she has hired a crew to clean up the glassworks and hired a few retired workers to come back and get the place up and running again.  The alley entrance now has a small workshed over it and is secured with an iron door underneath the floor of the workshop.

Negotiations continue with the goblins, who want to return to Thistletop.  The tribal druid is trying to get a new chief elected, but the process is complicated by the fact that a group of the goblins want Crukdon to be chief even though he is not a goblin.  Some of the tribe want to move, some do not.  The druid is keeping the process moving forward.  The band will need to decide the outcome of Thistletop.

Then Sheriff Hemlock shows up asking for help.  A string of murders has him feeling like he’s over his head and ask the group to look into it.  He discusses, at length, all of the recent events and happenings in the past that lead him to believe there is a serial killer at work.  So the group begins looking into the gruesome scene at the sawmill, the two men locked up in jail, and the historian working at the lighthouse.  The party discovers that the killer might be a ghast.

After exhausting leads in town, the party out to the sanitorium to interview the insane bodyguard of the three conartists that were killed several days ago.  The sanitorium is a bit creepy, and the proprietor is not too friendly.  Only after persuading him does he consent to the patient interview, at the end of which he succumbs to the ghoul fever and attacks.  The doctor apologizes and begs the party not to tell anyone about the event.  As the party leaves Sheriff Hemlock shows up with more good news.

There are several families from farms to the south, arriving in Sandpoint to escape from the walking scarecrows.  Farmers have been killed and some are missing.  So the party sets off to the south to see what is going on.

Talking to seveal of the farmers,  the party heads toward the Hambly farm which seems to be the start of the scarecrow problem.  As they approach, some of the scarecrows jump off their stand and attack. It is easy enough to figure out they are ghouls, and as the party searches the farms other scarecrow and undisguised ghouls attack.  The party finds a ‘survivor’ hidden in one of the scarecrows.  Crukdon poked it with his naginata, and it didn’t respond like the others.
